About Birgu
Birgu (also called Vittoriosa) is the oldest of the Three Cities, fortified, walled, and lying directly across the Grand Harbour from Valletta. Its peninsula contains the Inquisitor's Palace, the Maritime Museum, the original Convent of the Order of St John, and a tightly packed grid of stepped streets that survived the 1565 siege almost intact.
